Most WordPress break-ins trace back to a plugin or a compromised user account, whether that is a leaked password, a reused one, or a social-engineered login. Jigsaw sites have no plugins, no database, and no login exposed to the public internet, so the usual ways in simply are not there. There is no code running when a page is requested, so there are no fortnightly patches to chase.

Every change is saved to a full version history, which gives you a complete record and a one-click rollback. For professional services, health, finance, or anyone with compliance to answer to, that is far less to worry about.

A Jigsaw page is a file that was prepared once and left ready to serve. Content requests for a Jigsaw site are faster to implement, easier to review and more reliable to ship, because design and content live together in version-controlled code. There is no CMS scaffolding, blocks, widgets, custom fields, page builders or site editors, to wrestle with on every change.

And even if you are one of the small share of owners who actively makes their own content changes, the economics rarely stack up in your favour. Your 2 hours of wrestling with the WordPress block editor could have been a 15 minute email, and 30 minutes of our time.

And for clients who really do not need the monthly support and edits, a management only plan sits at $90 / month +gst. Any content changes are simply billed by the hour, with estimates provided for larger tasks.

Will my search rankings drop?

Protecting them is a core part of the job. We keep your URL structure, carry across canonicals, redirects and structured data, and test everything before the switch. Most sites then benefit from the speed, because Core Web Vitals are a ranking signal Google actually measures.

What does the $180 plan include?

Fully managed website and hosting on our servers, backups, DNS support, integrated form system, search console monitoring, one hour of simple content edits each month, plus much more.

Why is a Conversion so cheap?

Because we are not redesigning your website, we are republishing it. A Conversion takes the front-end code your current site already produces, the HTML, CSS, JS, images and layout your visitors see today, and rebuilds it as a Jigsaw site. Most of the design, content and structural work has already been done, so we only pay for the technical move rather than another round of design. If you also want a fresh look, that is what a Refresh is for.

Who makes changes to my site?

We do. There is no dashboard to log into and nothing for you to maintain. You send the change by email, and we make it, usually the same day. The Supported plan includes an hour of simple edits each month, and anything larger is estimated first.

Can I keep my blog and contact forms?

Yes to both. Blog posts and articles publish as ready-made pages, as fast and secure as the rest of the site. Forms run through a secure managed service with spam protection built in, so enquiries and bookings arrive in your inbox exactly as they do now.

How long does it take, and will my site go down at any point?

A Conversion takes about 2 to 4 weeks. A Refresh takes 3 to 6 months, and where it fits we will complete a Conversion first so your website is safe until the Refresh is complete. Your current site stays live the whole time, and the final switch is typically less than an hour.

What happens if I want to leave?

You own your domain, your content and the site itself. If you ever move on, we hand everything over and help you settle in wherever you are going. Nothing is locked to us.

Is Jigsaw right for every site?

Honestly, no. If you run a large online store or a member portal with logins, a database-driven platform still makes sense, and we will tell you so in the first conversation. For the brochure, services and content sites most businesses actually run, it is simply the better tool.

What if I am on Squarespace or Wix?

We convert sites off both. Neither platform hands over a working copy of your site when you go, their exports carry a fraction of it, so the move is a rebuild whoever does it for you. That is exactly what a Conversion is, and your URLs and rankings come across either way.

Why we've stepped back from WordPress for most small business sites, and what our service looks like now.

Where we've landed

WordPress got harder to justify for a small business site.

Over the last few years, the security picture around WordPress has quietly climbed to a point where the risk and the ongoing cost of keeping a small business site safe are out of proportion to what the site actually does. Hundreds of new plugin, theme and core vulnerabilities are disclosed each year, patches arrive on their own timeline, and either the site is paid to be looked after on a monthly rhythm, or the risk of a compromise slowly builds in the background.

For a farm gate, a workshop or a boutique tour operator, that is a lot of ongoing risk and cost to carry for a website whose job is really to look good, be found on Google, and take enquiries. The risk to reward calculation stopped adding up for the businesses we care most about.

What we do instead

A safer platform, and a simpler way to make changes.

The answer, for us, came in two parts. On the platform side we now build on Jigsaw. There is no database, no plugins, and no application code running when a page is requested, so the usual ways in are simply not there and the monthly patch cycle disappears with them.

On the service side, we removed the dashboard. Every site we host comes with someone at the other end of an email. You tell us what needs changing, we make the change, usually the same day. No login, no block editor, no wrestling with a page builder to move a paragraph.

How it feels day to day

The shift is not a philosophical one. It is a practical one you feel every week. New staff photos for the About page? Send them across, they will be live before the day is out. A price update, a Christmas closure notice, a fresh testimonial? Same thing.

Once a month a short note lands in your inbox, in plain English, covering what we changed, what we noticed, and anything worth thinking about before next month. No dashboards to open, no notifications to dismiss, no login you keep forgetting.

Who this suits, and who it doesn't

Small businesses that would rather run their business.

This way of working suits the aspiring small businesses we spend our days with, owners who want a genuinely good website looking quietly after itself in the background, freeing them up to get on with the actual business. It does not suit sites that need editing hourly by a large in-house team, or web applications with logins and complex data behind them.

If you are already on WordPress, we still take those sites on under a separate WordPress management plan. Where it fits though, we will usually suggest a Jigsaw conversion instead. Ongoing management sits at a materially lower monthly cost, and the recurring security risk that comes with WordPress simply goes away.
