What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies, along with your browser’s local and session storage, to remember choices you have made, to keep forms working correctly, and to understand how the site is used. Local and session storage are not cookies, but they hold small amounts of information on your device in much the same way.

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure how people find and move through the site, and Google Ads to measure whether our advertising works. These tools collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, the links you follow, the website or advertisement that referred you, and general information about your device, browser and approximate location. We use this to improve the website and the things we write on it.

From time to time we test different versions of a page to see which is more useful. If we are running a test, your browser stores which version you were shown so that it stays consistent on later visits, and that version is recorded alongside our analytics. It does not change what we collect about you.

You can stop or delete cookies through your browser settings, and clear local storage the same way. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do. You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Service providers and overseas disclosure

We use a small number of third-party services to run this website and our business. Some of them store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we are not able to control how overseas laws may apply to it.

The services we rely on are:

• Formspree (United States) receives and stores submissions from the enquiry, brief, feedback and chat-request forms on this website, and passes them to us by email.
• Google (United States and other countries) provides Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads, as described above.
• Cloudflare (United States) provides the Turnstile check that protects our forms from automated abuse.
• Calendly (United States) is used where you book a meeting with us directly.

We do not sell your Personal Information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own marketing.

Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

Access to your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

The Tasmanian Web Company will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.

In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

It is an important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
